“Change your behaviors around food and start changing your life.” ~GRUB

Randy and I are learning a lot about healthy eating.  After he had his heart attack and triple bypass in February, I thought he would have to go on a super strict no meat, no fat, no fun diet, however, the eating plan his cardiologist, acupuncturist and family doctor all recommended focused more on clean eating and moderation.
Since we have adult children who have been teaching us for many years about the benefits of organic and local foods, the hazards of processed foods, what to look for in the way foods are packaged or contained, the real issue concerning enriched flour and high fructose corn syrup and how healthy fats or oils turn into trans fats when heated above certain degrees, I thought we were pretty good at ‘living green’ in the kitchen.
Jeremy Linquist of Carolina Beach Community Acupuncture (and one of the above mentioned adult children) suggested we meet with Ryanna Battiste,  Duke- Trained Integrative Health coach and co-owner of GRUB.
Battiste came to our home and started doing some awesome feng shui (although she didn’t call it that) in my kitchen.
Feng shui produces changes.
Whenever you make changes in a space with a direct intention, you are practicing feng shui.  She began with an inventory of the foods we like to eat and we created a plan to prepare those foods in a healthy manner.
She discovered our Vita Mix under the cabinet and replace the juicer on the counter (which I never use) with the VM and waa laa, it works because I have made my healthy smoothies twice this week simply because the visual cue reminded me how easy it is to make my healthy, delicious and fast (I didn’t have to pull it out from below) breakfast smoothies.
Randy loves poached eggs and he purchased an Egg Central which makes them perfect every time.
Battiste suggested he try something different than a piece of toast to nestle the egg on.  She showed Randy how to sauté veggies in a skillet and taught him which oils were best to use.
He chopped up some sweet potato with onions and garlic and the leftovers were easy to heat up for breakfast the next morning.
When I found out GRUB was going to offer Community Health Coaching at CBCA in an extremely affordable group setting, I wanted YOU to know about it so you could experience the powerful changes that group work can inspire.  In this 4 week long workshop, you will be guided through a process to identify your ideal health state, unlock  your potential to move towards that vision, and start taking actionable steps with your relationship to food to uncover a healthier and more vibrant you.
This dynamic group experience combines simple mindfulness techniques alongside mini-lessons about eating and food to encourage a very personal look at your current health behaviors and inspire change.
Led by Ryanna Battiste, this Community Health Coaching workshop promises to be engaging, fun, and valuable.  Dates are October 7th, October 14th, October 21st, October 28th at 6:30pm. The price is $120 for the full series.  Class size is limited so don’t delay. Feng shui in the kitchen can only produce positive changes in your life.  Call 910-632-0464 to secure your spot today.   xo mo
