Carol Klutz Nash, 71, of Carolina Beach, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 24 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. She was born in New Hanover County, NC, August 10, 1946, the daughter of the late Jacob Earl Klutz and Thelma Carroll Teachey Klutz and oldest of five siblings.
Carol met her husband, Larry, while she was working at Monty's Restaurant and they shortly began dating which led to their marriage in 1963. Larry's service in the Navy took them to MA, and RI where she lived a much different way of life...not the beach kind. She continued to accompany Larry to many more locations (Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, Charleston & Florence, SC) throughout the years in support of his jobs. Always returning home to Carolina Beach where she enjoyed fishing, golfing, biking, skiing in the cut, going to the beach and so much more. Whether it was camping in Boone or on top of the dunes at the South End, she made it fun. Carol Jean was full of life.
Although she worked a variety of jobs over the years, her vision, creativity, resourcefulness and motivation led her to work on many building and art projects. She could put anything together and make it look great. Her love of plants was one of her passions and it showed. She could grow anything with that green thumb of hers. She also petitioned the state that led to the graveling and eventual paving of Lewis Drive.
Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Larry Wayne Nash, three daughters, Wendy Barbee Yadao and husband Thomas of Waipahu, HI;  Heidi Nash Crosby and husband Steve of Burgaw, NC; Bobbi Beth Nash Hobbs of Carolina Beach, NC; grandchildren Preston, Alex, Stefan, Molly and Kaleb; four siblings, Linda Dowdy, Eddie Klutz, Terry Klutz and Cheryl Reavis.
Pastor Jerry Vess will lead us in "A Celebration of Life" Service at Seaside Church in Carolina Beach at 3pm on July 8, 2018.
Special Thanks to our family and friends for all the love and support that has been bestowed upon us.
Memorials/Donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401
