Fishing has been Excellent this week, in spite of all the weather changes we’ve undergone.  Even though some days have seemed like mid-winter, the water temp is still about 62 degrees and the fish seem to be quite happy with that.  Lots of reports of large Sea Mullet in the surf, near shore ocean, and in the river. Happy Happy Happy!  I’ve told you before why I love them so much…   no creel limit, no size limit, easy to catch, easy to clean, freeze well and taste great!  (Maybe I shouldn’t mention that publicly, as the state could see how happy I am and begin imposing limits.  ‘Hope not.)  Oh, and about the size limit…  not regulated by the state, but I personally require them to be large enough to filet or we throw them back.
I’m also getting reports of Red Drum, Black Drum , Speckled trout and flounder continuing to bite well.  Gray Trout are also abundant, but with a limit of one, what’s the use? Right?
Got-em-on Live Bait Club held their year end Awards Banquet Saturday night.  Lots of awards and prizes handed out. Good friends, good food, good times!  Special thanks to the Arab Shrine Club for doing their usual superb job, and the Carolina Breakers for the great dance music.  Now I can’t give up all the club’s secrets, but I do want to congratulate Chris Hansen for winning the Donnie Harrill Memorial Flounder Points Tournament, and congratulate our president, Captain Butch Martin, for winning the club’s side bet on the largest flounder caught this year. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was the special award of Lifetime Membership given to Randy and Tammy Gainey. If you know them you know they deserve it!

Once again,  Happy Happy Happy!   Now Go Fishin’ !
 Wishing you the best,

Archie Tsangarides shows off a very nice Speckled Trout! ‘Way to go Arch!

Larry had to stand on a ladder to get this stringer of mostly Sea Mullet off the ground!

Bill Simmons was  seen reeling in Sea Mullet two at a time!  Nice work Bill!
