WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior forward Cedrick Williams of UNCW is among a select group of NCAA Division I men's basketball players nominated for the 2015 Allstate NABC Good Works Team. The prestigious award, sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Allstate Insurance Company, recognizes student-athletes who have made significant contributions to their communities through volunteerism and civic service.
Williams, one of the Colonial Athletic Association's top big men, hails from Murfreesboro, Tenn., and has been a four-year starter for the Seahawks, appearing in 98 games. He has scored 790 points and grabbed 612 rebounds and led the team in scoring and rebounding in 2013-14. Off the court, the 6-9, 225-pound Williams has been involved with Toys for Tots, Miracle Field, CAA Blood Drive and UNCW Move-In activities. He has also volunteered with the Wilmington Boys and Girls Clubs and read and served as a mentor at local elementary schools.
In its third year, the Allstate NABC Good Works Team honors players at all levels of college basketball who exhibit superior leadership skills through charitable achievements. The team honors individuals who have balanced athletics and academics, while donating their time to serving others in the community.
Williams is one of 158 nominees for the award and is eligible to be included on the final 10-member team comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. Members of the team will be invited by Allstate to the 2015 NABC Convention and 2015 NCAA Men's Final Four in Indianapolis, where they will participate in a community project in the city.
Two other players from the CAA, Canyon Barry of the College of Charleston and Dion Nesmith of Hofstra, are featured on the ballot.
Former Duke standout and two-time NBA champion Grant Hill headlines the Allstate Good Works Team voting panel. In addition to Hill, other members of the panel include former college standouts Greg Anthony (UNLV), Mateen Cleaves (Michigan State), Tamika Catchings (Tennessee) and Alana Beard (Duke); former head coaches Bobby Cremins (Georgia Tech/College of Charleston), Seth Greenberg (Virginia Tech), Marsha Sharp (Texas Tech) and Nell Fortner (Auburn); current coach Coquese Washington (Penn State); media members Seth Davis (Sports Illustrated), Dana O'Neill (ESPN), Carolyn Peck (ESPN) and LaChina Robinson (ESPN/FOX); and Pam Hollander, vice-president of marketing for Allstate Insurance.

"Their stories of powerful and selfless acts, shared by SIDs and coaches across the nation, represent the best of collegiate student-athletes and serve as an inspiration to us all."
