CAROLINA BEACH -  The Town of Carolina Beach will hold a Planning Forum on Thursday April 19th, from 8am to 12 noon at Town Hall in the Council meeting room.

According to Assistant Town Manager Ed Parvin, "The purpose of the Planning Forum is to discuss current and future changes happening with the Town of Carolina Beach’s permitting process. This forum is open to all contractors, rental managers, subcontractors, and the general public. The forum will include an open discussion on new forms, policies, license requirements, and upcoming code changes."

Joel Macon - Field Investigator, NC General Contracting Board - will speak about the purpose of the Field Investigator and what types of things they are reviewing.

Brian Stanberry - Assistant Director of Operations, Town of Carolina Beach - will speak about requirements for  driveway and storm water conveyance in front of new homes.

Ed Parvin - Assistant Town Manager - will talk about why  facility fees are changing and and how it will impact developers and homeowners in terms of the fees charged for water and sewer infrastructure for new developments.

Jeremy Hardison - Senior Planner, Town of Carolina Beach - will talk about when new flood insurance maps will go into effect and how the new maps will impact Carolina Beach property owners.

Miles Murphy - Planner, Town of Carolina Beach -  will give information on when a site plan is required and what needs to be included when submitting an application to the Planning Department.

Chris Lewis - Code Enforcement Officer, Town of Carolina Beach - will address code issues occurring on developing properties and how Town codes are enforced.

Brenda Butler - Community Organization Officer, Town of Carolina Beach - will discuss a new software system called Cityworks and how it will change the permitting process.

Darrell Johnson - Building Inspector, Town of Carolina Beach - will talk about the types of building codes that are changing and how  that will impact development and timelines.

Parvin explained earlier this week, "Refreshments will be available. The purpose of the meeting is to walk through many of the issues we have experienced with development and update the community on how those issues are being managed both internally and externally."
