CAROLINA BEACH - Saturday May 18th will be a busy day in Carolina Beach. Multiple events are scheduled near the Boardwalk in the downtown Central Business District as well as at Freeman Park on the north end of the Island.
The Beach Wrestling State and National Championships will be held on the beach in front of the Boardwalk from 11am to 5pm. The event returns to Carolina Beach, N.C. for the seventh straight year along with the 10th Annual North Carolina-USA Beach Wrestling State Championships.
"Belt" Wrestling is sanctioned by the UWW as an associated style of wrestling. Find out more about these events at
www.ncwrestling.org
The 7th Annual Jeep Go Topless Event will take place at Freeman Park on May 18th.
Hundreds of Jeep owners remove their (vehicle) tops and go topless for a day of fun in the sun while raising funds for local charities.
The 5th Annual Jeep Go Topless Event took place at Freeman Park in May of 2017 and during the August 8th 2017, meeting of the Carolina Beach Town Council, Matt Gillian, representing Jeep Go Topless Day, presented a check in the amount of $11,821.32 to the Carolina Beach Help Center.
Freeman Park, located beyond the end of Canal Drive on the Northern End of Pleasure Island, is largely outside of the Town's jurisdiction. They have authority to manage the area as a park. That was granted to them by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners some years ago.
Previous events generated funding for local organizations such as collecting canned foods for the Carolina Beach Help Center. To learn more, visit them online at www.jeepgotoplessgear.com
The annual "Crawl for Paws" event will take place Saturday  to support various animal causes in the Cape Fear region. All proceeds raised stay here in the local community. Participants will crawl from pub to pub to party for a cause. To learn more visit "Crawl For Paws" on Facebook.
Also being held this weekend in Carolina Beach is the 26th Annual Seaside Soccer Classic and the Carolina Beach Market at the Carolina Beach Lake. The market brings locally grown and produced produce, meats, food, and arts to residents and visitors to Pleasure Island. The event is held every Saturday from 8am to 1pm from May 11th to September 28th.
