WILMINGTON, NC - Because of the decrease in the level of influenza in the community, New Hanover Regional Medical Center is removing the visiting restrictions placed on children ages 12 and under. This change is effective immediately.   If you have flu-like symptoms, do not visit the hospital. It is always a good idea to stay home if you are sick and avoid public places if possible.
Although flu levels are declining, it is important for the community to stay vigilant against the spread of the disease to prevent a re-occurrence. New Hanover Regional Medical Center encourages everyone to get a seasonal flu vaccine if you have not already done so. Vaccines are available in our community and are critical to preventing another outbreak. New Hanover Regional Medical Center is the leading provider of quality and accessible health care in Southeastern North Carolina, delivering care to all in need, without the support of taxpayer dollars.  The medical center takes seriously its responsibility as an economic engine for the community, creating more than 6,000 jobs directly and another 6,000 jobs indirectly.
