Renown local artist, Linda Hartman, is introducing new mixed media fine art in her “Artful Ladies” exhibit that will be held through September in Artful Living Group’s upstairs gallery.
This collection includes stunning repousse on copper, acrylic and drift wood pieces that bring to life the female spirit and emotions. Linda’s art background began as a commercial artist working predominantly as a graphic illustrator in the early 70’s. She received her art education from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Kansas. She started her art career in advertising, then spent 5 years as a general contractor for her own homebuilding company, followed by over 20 years creating her own lines of fine art. Her work reflects the experiences she has had with different mediums. Linda’s pieces are her way of storytelling and communicating the emotions and beauty of life’s adventures.
Artful Living Group has completed its fourth successful summer season and reached another milestone in the business plan with the opening of 5 working artist studios.
5 years ago Mo Linquist and Chris Higgins were looking for studio space to do their artwork and decided to combine their studios with a gallery and retail shop. Today customers can find fine art and fine gifts from over 250 artist from around the country, enjoy monthly gallery exhibits with amazing local artists, and watch artists in their studios as they create their works of art.
The artist studios include Chris Higgins, Founder of Fishbone Designs, designs and creates all the pieces in this collection.  Each one-of-a kind item is fabricated using sterling silver, brass, copper, and gold.  Unique stones and gemstones from around the world are highlighted by the textures of the metals.  "Fishbone Designs reflect my mixed Japanese and Cherokee heritage with a balance of colors and shapes to create simple yet striking jewelry,” says Higgins.
