Spotlight On Coastal Cuisine: Chef Brandon Stark of Michael’s Seafood Advances to Got to the NC Competition Dining Series

Chef Brandon Stark of Michael’s Seafood Restaurant won his first round battle last week taking on and defeating chef Ben Guaman of Governors Club in Chapel Hill. Chef Brandon Stark will advance on to the next round of the Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series and take on chef Spencer Carter of Weathervane in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, February 17th.
Brandon Stark graduated from Ashley High School in 2008.  He went on to Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC where he achieved his associate’s and bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts.  During his schooling he remained employed at Michael’s Seafood Restaurant in Carolina Beach, NC since the age of 15.  He began as a dishwasher and continued to get promoted through the ranks until he became the Executive Chef in 2011.  Brandon’s creativity, drive and compassion for the restaurant industry has won Michael’s Seafood Restaurant numerous awards including a 3 time international seafood chowder cook off win, many local chowder cook off wins, best seafood restaurant and restaurant of the year.  Brandon was a judge in last year’s Fire on the Dock challenge and looks forward to competing in this year’s Got to be NC Competition Dining Series with the hopes of bringing home a win to Carolina Beach.
