“We can’t all be stars, but we can all twinkle.” ~Anonymous

Two years ago you may have seen Joan George working from the analytical side of her brain as a US postmaster, a career she sincerely enjoyed.  Since her retirement her right brain has kicked into gear and her artistic abilities have risen to the surface.
George along with Bob, her loving husband of 17 years, reside permanently in the state of Michigan but they have also shared a family home in Kure Beach where they visit often.
George loves her sister-in-laws and the time spent on the island all together.  Her family is very supportive of her work, which consists mainly of stained glass window panels, glass mosaics, slumped wine bottles and fused glass.  Her specialty is original and commissioned glass creations for home and gifts.
As with all artists, life has taken George on roads of good and bad.  The passing of her young daughter, the STAR in her life, lead her to name her business, ‘Star Glass Creations.’  Her Facebook page displays her beautiful work.
Her family also consists of a married son and 2 grandchildren who will always be number one in her life.
Glasswork comes in a close second.  As a true green heart artist, she loves the mosaics because she can use her scraps.
Her friend MaryAnn suggested they learn glass fusion together and before you knew it there was a new kiln in the basement where both women work together, listening to oldies and bounce ideas off each other.
Glasswork is not all George is known for.  Did someone mention her Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies?  On Thursday,  February 5th 6:30-8:30 Artful Living Group will present George at her opening reception as the featured artist of the month of February.  The Lazy Pirate will provide snacks and the dessert, made by Joan herself, won’t disappoint you.  PLEASE do not let the work on Cape Fear Blvd keep you away.  The town is tearing up our street to make it so much better and we will be open during construction.  Park your car on Lake Park Blvd and walk through the rental business to get to our shop.  This is an exhibit you will not want to miss…..you may even see the glass twinkle from our windows.  xo mo
