“Every artist dips his bush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Ginny Wagner has been showing her work at Artful Living Group since we opened our doors.  She is a North Carolina native reared in Morgantown and has lived in Kure Beach a total of 13 years.   Although she has been painting and drawing since she was in grade school, it was after her retirement from Guilford county Schools as an elementary school teacher, that she picked up her paintbrush and started excelling in watercolor.
Wagner specializes in many subjects including home portraits, landscapes, children and pet portraits but her passion ignites when she sees something that says, “Paint me.”  One such scene is one of my favorite’s of hers.  It is a local Kure Beach scene of dungarees hanging on a line.  She was heading south on Ft. Fisher one day and saw the clothesline of freshly washed jeans blowing in the wind.  It called out to her.  She went home and painted the scene.
Wagner will be our featured artist of the month of May in the upper room at Artful Living Group, 112 Cape Fear Blvd, Carolina Beach.  Her opening reception will be Thursday, May 7th 6:30 to 8:30 where we will have light refreshments provided by
The Lazy Pirate.  Her work will hang in the gallery for the month.
Come meet this amazing woman who has created a whole new life after retirement.  Her work is well known on this island.  The scenes are familiar AND may call out to you, “Take me home.”  xo mo
