Raffaele Paglia grew up in a military family, seeing first hand the wonders of the world.  He attended the Instituto  Artistico Del’Abbigliamento Maragoni in  Milan, Italy.  His experience is varied and exciting exploring the visual display world, and then moving into costume design for the motion picture industry, dance companies and Broadway shows.  He had a particular way with clothing and accessories and worked for several prestigious houses such as Luciano Soprani S.p.a.  Milan, Italy, La Rue International, New York City, FRYE, Great Neck, New York, and as freelance to Tommy Hilfiger, Ferrar, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole,Charriol, Ivana Trump, Coach and Todd Smith (aka LL Cool J) to name a few.
Today you will find him living on Pleasure Island, enjoying the surf and sand and negative ions of the ocean.  His latest brainchild is called CBboards which is a collaboration with different artists, a 'Lifestyle Brand'.
The core of CBboards, are the surfboards.  This is in collaboration with Ben Fowler of SoulShine Surfboards.  “I have worked with JCW Surfboards in the past,” says Paglia, “and I am always interested in working with other shapers in the future as well.”
Other Divisions in development are;  CBdecor - Home Decor.  “Besides the paintings that I do, surfboards, kneeboards and skimboards that are no longer sea-worthy are transformed into decorative pieces of art.”  Also collaborating in this month’s show at Artful Living Group is photographer Bryan Doane, and artist Christina Quinn.  CBbody  is a Personal Care products line with handmade; 'Shea Butter Boards', and 'Turtle Soap’.
Join us on Thursday, September 3rd for our opening reception 6:30-8:30pm welcoming Raffa and his show, “Art in Motion.”  His pieces will hang for the month of September.  The beauty of the sea, the playfulness of the dolphins and creativeness of his surfboard art will move you to an out-of-the-box adventure produced by the uniqueness of this amazing local island artist who found a warm home in our gallery.  xo mo
