“Why did the monkey like the banana?  (Because it had appeal!)”

Monkey jokes will abound this year.  2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey according to traditional Chinese Horoscope.
This clever little animal that loves being the center of attention, is mischievous and intelligent, and a talented problem solver.
They are creative and love a challenge, however they may get impatient if things don’t go their way.  Children born after Feb 8th this year (and before Jan 28th 2017) may have the tendency to be little rascals.
It is no wonder we love monkey icons (like monkey heads made out of coconuts.)  Look around your house.  Do you have any monkeys living in your space?
Gracing our living room is a red monkey chair-and-a-half with ottoman,  purchased 6 months before our move here.  The fabric sports a red background with green and brown palm trees bearing fruit. Dozens of the cutest little monkeys wink at me daily.
It was no surprise discovering the connection between my attraction with this twin sleeper and the fact that we ended up moving near an area we never heard of before, Monkey Junction.  It was animal magnetism.
Adding the element of Fire to the personality of this little primate, gives them the determination to reach the top of the tree.
Accomplishment and recognition is more satisfying than money.  The caution in a Fire Monkey year is that one not move too quickly or take risky shortcuts which could cause ‘burnout.’  Fire Monkeys should remember that there is a saying in China: "The further up the tree a Monkey goes, the more you see his bottom."
Should you decide to add some Fire Monkey items to your home this year, come to Artful Living Group and discover the Art of Candy Pegram.  This local Wilmington artist is a master of monkey images. Talented and creative her doodles seduce a smile from all who pass by.
“Why don't monkeys play cards in the jungle? (There are too many cheetahs there!)”  Take advantage of the energy of the monkey this year but be careful to not move too fast. xo mo
