“Are you really sure that a floor can't also be a ceiling?” ~M.C. Escher

When I heard that a short trip to Raleigh could be a creative Christmas present for my husband Randy, I immediately contacted the North Carolina Museum of Art to purchase tickets to view the exhibits of both Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester and the Creative Mind and The Worlds of M. C. Escher: Nature, Science and Imagination. Of course, I had to accompany him.
What most impressed me was the holistic nature of these two genius human beings.   Leonardo, the true Renaissance man, explored science, math, the movement of our solar system, water flow, battle tactics, the human body, art techniques.  You name it.  He had a thought on the subject and most of those primitive conclusions were pretty accurate.  Art class taught me that the ability to draw is more connected to the eye than to the hand.  How one perceives the world is the portal through which one travels to document that experience producing what we call art.  In folio 34r Leo compares the earth to the human body:  the soil is its flesh, the rock stratifications of mountains its bones, tufa stones its cartilage, the veins of its waters its blood, the ocean its heart, the heat of its soul evidenced in volcanoes.  Patterns of life surround us.  Do you see it?
Escher’s patterned work also displayed an incredible fusion of art and math, although, when a professor actually explained the science behind his genius, he claimed to not understand it at all.  He is quoted as saying, “My work is a game, a very serious game.”
I have always felt like working with my design clients was somehow closer to play than to work. It is fun to begin with a room that is just ho-hum and watch it bloom into AHA!  More importantly, the feeling of creating a holistic space wherein my clients feel healthy and happy, brings me great satisfaction.  My goal is to tap into the pattern that is most in harmony with them and let the vibration do its wooing.
Trained as a specialist in paint color selection, window coverings, fabric selections for furniture, and accessories, it wasn’t until I studied pyramid feng shui that I realized how the room looked was secondary to how the room made one feel.  The study of bau-biology prompted me to specialize in the products used in the space.  No more paint with toxic VOC’s.  No more flooring with formaldehyde.  Choose natural over plastic and live in a house that can breath.  The Renaissance woman in me delights in bringing pleasure through educating the public about ONLY using healthy products in their homes.  Holistic design includes products you can use with a clear conscience because they are safer for humans, animals and our environment.
On Saturday, January 30th from 11:00am - 12:30 pm I will be introducing a line of cleaning products, effective at cleaning and removing stains, bacteria and viruses, without putting chlorine, ammonia or phosphates into our precious waterways.  Reservations are required.  Call Artful Living Group to register to attend at 910-458-7822.
For every $25 you spend at Artful Living Group during the month of January, enter to win an Eco Sense® safer for your home pack. One lucky customer will win 18 amazing, ecologically and economically sensible cleaners that can clean your home top to bottom, wash your laundry inside and out, and save you money as well.  Products sold individually would cost $143.00 through Melaleuca and almost $200 for national brands sold at WallMart and other grocery stores.  Come out and and play with me and maybe learn something new that will expand your awareness.  Here is, a fnail daioertomstnn of how celver yuor barin is - can you raed tihs?  xo mo
