“Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night.”  ~Hal Borland

I am writing this on the day of the full moon in June.  This year, this moon coincides with the summer solstice, a rarity that has not happened since 1948.  My feng shui work has taught me to appreciate the cycles of nature.  There is a time for yin and a time for yang.  It is how we learn balance.  The tide flows in and the tide flows out.  The sun rises and sets.  The unharnessed wood energy of a blade of grass will push through asphalt to complete its photosynthesis with the sun.  It will burst forth and thrive (with fire and earth elements) and eventually it will grow brown and decay.  Then metal element energy will take it back to the earth.  All will seem silent.  During the dead of winter, water element, like amniotic fluid prepares for a life to come again.  Grass will return and the cycles of life become evident once more.
Chris and I have decided that after 6 years we are ready to slow down to focus on our families and studio work. So with tears in our eyes we will close Artful Living Group after Labor Day.
This doesn’t mean Artful Living Group is gone for good, however! We are redesigning our business model to be more flexible so we can have our cake and eat it too, and you know how much we love our cakes!!!
We are going to make this the BEST summer season.  Currently our featured artist is Jillian Boivin and her work will hang in the gallery for the rest of the month of June.  If you have not seen it, this show is quite eye candy and her best to date.  July 7th we will welcome Felice Kite with her show aptly named, “Island Pleasures.”  Her new work captures the spirit of this island in her typically whimsical and happy way.  August will culminate with Jan Fuery's show.  Jan has shared her talent on this island with uplifting and sophisticated palettes.
The Carolina Street Arts Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 27th.  It will be a day of vendors and entertainment and you will defiantly want to join in the community project which you can preview in our store right now.
The store will officially close on Labor Day, Sept 5th.
Stop in soon to purchase those items you have been thinking about. Thank you so much for the support over the years.  Our lives have been enriched by getting to know so many of you who may have started out as customers but quickly became forever friends. With much appreciation, xo xo Chris and Mo
