North Carolina has it all for vacationers from mountains, lakes, attractions and beaches.  The weather is comfortable.  The people are friendly and departments at the state level like DEQ are creating an atmosphere of ‘green healthy living.’
“The NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the lead stewardship agency for the protection of North Carolina’s environmental resources,” according to their website.  “The organization, which has offices from the mountains to the coast, administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public’s health, and also works to advance an all-of-the-above energy strategy that fits North Carolina’s needs. DEQ also offers technical assistant to businesses, farmers, local governments, and the public and encourages responsible behavior with respect to the environment through education programs provided at DEQ facilities and through the state’s school system.  DEQ touches the lives of all North Carolinians in may ways to enhance and ensure our quality of life.”
Smart communities like Kure Beach will be engaging with the resources of this department to create a green initiative in their town.  Recently,  The NC GreenTravel Initiative was created to promote robust economic growth and environmental stewardship in the travel and hospitality sector.  The prestigious “green” travel-oriented businesses will have a cutting-edge advantage and there is no cost to the businesses directly.  In fact, “the actions encouraged by NC Green Travel help businesses reduce operation costs, increase profits and extend their brand to a growing consumer market making travel decisions based upon the green practices of those from whom they purchase.”  This green travel recognition program is the most extensive in the nation.
As a feng shui  practitioner, nature is as important as life itself.  His Holiness Pope Francis called for “a new dialog about how we are shaping the future of our planet.” He also said “The throwaway culture of today calls for a new lifestyle.”
If you are one of those naysayers who refuse to acknowledge climate change then, I am sorry for you.  It is time for all ethical human beings to do everything they can to be good stewards on this planet.  As my chiropractor Dr. Jeff Fedorka once said about the body, “If you don’t have a body to live in, where are you going to live?”  I ask the same question about our planet.  Living in a throw away society may not be the BALANCED state to get us where we want to go.  xo mo
