"Dream big, take action, make a difference; share your joy!"  -Judith Lukomski

Chris and I continue to dream big.  Although we are sad that on Labor Day we will be closing the retail part of Artful Living Group in the original location 112 Cape Fear Blvd, new opportunities present themselves and we must be flexible to go with the flow.  It has been a fun 6 years and meeting so many wonderful artists and customers has enhanced our lives.
Normally we have an opening reception for the featured artist of the month, but since this is our last, we have decided to have a closing reception on WEDNESDAY August 31st and hope all of you will stop in and join us to say farewell and bridge over for the new redesigned Artful Living Group’s business model.
Our featured artist for the month of August is a local gal, Jan Feury.  Many of you may remember Jan when she was at the cute little store The Lime and the Coconut.  Who knew her artistic talents were so vast?  Her exhibit this month is called ‘Horizons’ and is on display in our gallery throughout August.
“In the 2001 book The New, New Thing,” Michael Lewis refers to the phrase business model as “a term of art.”  And like art itself, it’s one of those things many people feel they can recognize when they see it but can’t quite define.” Artful Living Group’s new business model addresses the owners’ business and lifestyle objectives.
Our business challenges are how to have a sustainable business in a highly seasonable market and small community, while wanting to enjoy living in “paradise”. “We are redesigning our business model to one that lets us have our cake and eat it too, and you know how much we love our cakes!” said Chris Higgins.
We are reducing overhead by combining online shopping with a smaller gallery that enables our customers to continue to reach their favorite artists and allows us to spend more time in our studios with our customers to design custom work. We are also adopting a collaborative business approach with Artful Living Group, Mo Linquist Solutions and Carolina Beach Furniture to bring local art, interior design and home furnishings together.
Artful Living Group will relocate to 1003 Bennet Lane, Unit N, on Carolina Beach.  Shopping is by appointment and the gallery will carry many of the popular artists from our original shop.  Mo Linquist will also have a studio in Carolina Beach Furniture to be closer to her customer base and Carolina Beach Furniture will carry Fishbone Designs jewelry and other Artful Living Group artists so customers can still walk-in to find local art.
We are excited to see what’s on the “Horizon!”
The current store will officially close on Labor Day, Sept 5th.

Our closing reception will be WEDNESDAY August 31st 6:30-8:30pm to say farewell to our store.  Of course, we will have drinks and munchies and singing and dancing if you like.  This island knows how to party. Chris and Mo want to say ‘thank you’ for supporting us all these years.  We seemed to have made a positive difference in many lives and now it is time to share the JOY!!  xo mo
