"A room without a rug is like a kiss without a hug." ~ anonymous

I always have a great time zooming around High Point Furniture Market, perusing all the newest products and designs for my clients.  I generally attend several seminars.
One I particularly enjoyed was by Libby Langdon called, “Designing for the Ages.”  Basically it was feng shui for older people as she described how changes in eyesight and vision loss can be eased with paint tips and tactics.
She also gave suggestions using design elements to help with hearing loss. In pyramid feng shui we have been trained when designing for Alzheimer patients, never use a black rug because they may perceive it as a hole and avoid walking on it.
There are 78 Million Baby Boomers in the US and these Boomer women control 80% of the purchases.
Many are downsizing but are not willing to give up quality.  Less may be more but that is specifically why surrounding yourself with those special things that you ‘love’ is so important to your psyche.
Pyramid feng shui designs for the “person in the place.”  We want the space to sing to the inhabitant, in the most harmonic way.
Wall to wall carpeting offers soundproofing but the popularity of it has given way to hardwood floors. Although these floors may be easy to clean and maintain, they need an area rug to absorb the sound.
At the beach I have sold wool rugs, cotton rugs, rugs made from manmade fibers and once again it depends on the “person in the place.”  Polypropylene rugs are not just for outdoors anymore.
They are easy to clean according to Travis from Bluewater Carpet Cleaning.  Customers coming into our store are amazed to learn that the rug in my studio is an outdoor rug.  The design and texture fool most people.  The colors are fun.  Bye-bye humdrum sisal imitations and hello wow power.
I carry Dash and Albert, Jaipur, Surya and Chandra to name a few.  These companies also provide other outdoor products like pillows, poufs and lighting.  Of course, my samples of Sunbrella fabric are enticing.  We can manufacture about anything your little heart desires.
If you are looking for an area rug, don’t go any further.  Call and make an appointment with me and I can show you lots of fun styles.  I am sure one of them will rock your boat.  After all, isn’t that what a kiss and a hug are all about?  xo mo
