By / Life on the Island / Wednesday, 09 March 2016 00:00

Last week president of the Federal Point Historic Preservation Society and local Author, Elaine Henson made a visit to Carolina Beach Elementary to teach the history of Snow’s Cut with the school’s entire second grade class. Henson shared how Pleasure Island was originally a peninsula and why it was so important to cut a path leading the river to the ocean and essentially creating an Island. Henson shared historic photos and articles of those who were involved in creating Snow’s Cut as well as the original swinging bridge.
The Federal Point Historic Preservation Society was formed on March 28,1994, for the purpose of bringing together persons interested in the history of Federal Point Township and who wished to make a contribution in documenting and preserving North Carolina history.
