A Message from Kure Beach Ocean Rescue

By / Life on the Island / Wednesday, 31 August 2016 04:00

The Kure Beach Ocean Rescue would like to warn everyone that visits the beach for Labor Day weekend to be careful when entering the ocean. If swimming, be sure to swim near a lifeguard and be aware of flag color. With tropical season in full swing, the ocean is expected to be rough with rip currents this weekend. If caught in a rip current, relax, wave down a lifeguard and do not try to swim directly back to shore against the current. With high numbers expected to visit the beaches this weekend, everyone can do their part by keeping an eye on the changing flag conditions, keeping an eye on their children, and always swimming near a lifeguard stand.
