This past Saturday the folks from the Cape Fear Kite Festival couldn’t have planned a more perfect day for their event. The 80-degree weather brought hundreds of spectators and kite enthusiast alike to the Fort Fisher Recreation Area where seasoned flyers from around the country showed off kite flying skills.
Kites of all shapes and sizes took the skies creating a kaleidoscope of colors including a 100-foot blue whale and giant white unicorn! Unfortunately the two day event was cut short Sunday because of weather but everyone looks forward to next year!  The Cape Fear Kite Festival is held the 1st FULL weekend in November, location: Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, Kure Beach 10-4 wind/weather permitting.
