Kure Beach Welcomes 2017 with a Bang

Kure Beach Welcomes 2017 with a Bang

By / Life on the Island / Wednesday, 04 January 2017 05:00

This past Saturday, December 31st, 2016 hundreds gathered in Kure Beach for the Island of Lights New Year’s Eve Celebration Party. New Year’s Eve revelers enjoyed dancing the evening away to a live DJ. Then it was time for the Beach Ball Drop as everyone counted down the last few seconds of 2016 and rang in the 2017 with a kiss! After the Beach Ball drop, all eyes were peeled to the skies for a spectacular fireworks display. Remember the Celebration changes location between Kure and Carolina Beach bringing the party back to the Boardwalk next year.  The Island of Lights is a dedicated group of volunteers who work hard year round to promote tourism during the holiday season on Pleasure Island.  Every year they provide lighted holiday decorations around the Carolina Beach Lake and elsewhere on the Island as well as holding many popular events that draw large crowds.  They put on the “Light up at the Lake”, the Holiday Parade and Flotilla, the Tour of Homes and even more great events during other times of the year.  If you would like to find out more about the Island of Lights Organization, their scheduled events, or for information about becoming a member please visit their website at www.IslandofLights.org.  The next fundraiser for the Island of Lights will be in April for their Spring Fashion Show.
