BEHIND THE SCENES
• AQUARIST APPRENTICE - Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. - Check out a dirty job you’re sure to love. Join staff on a behind-the-scenes tour and learn about Aquarium animals, what they eat, how they live and how to care for them. Then assist aquarists with food preparation and help feed the animals. Participants also observe aquarists during daily care and maintenance tasks. This limited opportunity is only open to 10 participants. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared to smell fishy. For ages 10 and older.  Ages 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  Fee: $28 for ages 13 and older, $26 for ages 10-12. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED.  
• BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR - Sunday, March 12 at 11:15 a.m., Sundays, March 19, 26 at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at 1:15 p.m., Saturdays, April 1, 22, 29 at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., Sunday, April 2 at 11:15 a.m., Sundays, April 9, 23, 30 at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. - Special Rate of $7.00 per participant; Friday, November 25 at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. - Check out a dirty job you’re sure to love. • Extended BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR - Tuesdays, March 7, 21 at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 16 at 2 p.m., Thursdays, April 6, 20 at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 11 at 2 p.m. - Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at an Aquarium? Space for animal holding, husbandry, life support systems, and access to exhibits is hidden behind the aquarium walls. If you have ever cared for a home aquarium, you may have some idea of what it takes to operate a collection of salt and freshwater exhibits, with hundreds of animals. Accompany aquarium staff on a guided tour of animal quarantine, life support, food preparation, and access areas. This unique opportunity is limited to 10 participants. Children under 8 are not permitted. Children between 8 and 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Fee: $15.00 for adults and $13.00 for children 17 and under. Aquarium admission included. NC Aquarium Society Members pay $9.00 per participant.
OUTDOORS & EXPLORATION
• SURF FISHING WORKSHOP - Saturdays, April 1, 22 at 9 a.m. This three-hour workshop includes one hour of classroom discussion, then surf fishing on the beach nearby. All equipment and bait provided.  Program is rain or shine, with extra activities added in event of bad weather (e.g., throwing a cast net).  Ages 10 and older. Fee: $18 per participant. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED.
FOR CHILDREN/PARENTS
• CHILDREN’S DISCOVERY TIME - Thursday, April 6 at 11 a.m. – Turtle Time. Thursday, April 20 at 11 a.m. – Hermit Crab’s Companions Creatures come alive in this story-telling and critter-creating program.  For ages 3-5. Fee: $14 per child. Parents pay admission only.  PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED.
DAY CAMPS FOR KIDS
• AQUACAMP – SHARKS, SKATES, AND RAYS - Monday, April 10 at 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. There are no bones about it sharks, skates, and rays are some of the coolest animals. Campers will learn all about these animals and what makes them different from other fish. Come and join the fun! Snacks are provided. Kids will need to bring a bag lunch. Ages 5-12. Fee: $40 per participant. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
• AQUACAMP – SURVIVING IN THE WILD - Tuesday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Children are invited to spend a fun filled day learning about the many ways animals survive in the wild. From camouflage to mimicry campers will learn all about the different techniques animals use to stay alive. Happy campers play games, create art and watch live animal presentations. Snacks are provided. Campers will need to bring a bag lunch. Ages 5-12. Fee: $40 per participant. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
AquaCamp Transportation! This year we are offering limited transportation from the Monkey Junction area to and from Aquacamps! We can accommodate only 13 children per day.  A fee and pre-registration is required!
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
• ALLIGATOR EGG HUNT - Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Friday, April 14 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. - Come join the fun on our Alligator Egg Hunt. Kids get to see a live baby alligator and learn about these fascinating animals. They create their own special alligator egg basket and then search for candy filled “alligator eggs.” Recommended for kids 3-10, however all ages are welcome. Limited space is available. Ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Fee: $21 per child. Adults will need to pay admission to Aquarium. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY APRIL 5, 2017 FOR APRIL 8, 2017 PROGRAMS.  PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY APRIL 12, 2017 FOR APRIL 14 AND 15, 2017 PROGRAMS.
About the Aquarium - The N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher is located south of Kure Beach, a short drive south from Wilmington, on U.S. 421. The site is less than a mile from the Fort Fisher ferry terminal. Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Aquarium is one of three state aquariums in North Carolina administered by the N.C.
