CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. - Patricia Jean (Lewis) Basinger, of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 22, 2018 at the age of 84.
She was born on October 9, 1933 in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Gradie Costin Lewis and the late Charles Foard Lewis.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gene J. Basinger, her brother Charles Foard Lewis, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Karen Foust Basinger.
She is survived by her two sons, Greg Basinger and wife Sue, Ward Basinger and Valerie Korwatch, special grandson Travis Basinger, sister-in-laws Katherine Lewis and Mary Basinger, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifetime resident of Carolina Beach and was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for many years and especially enjoyed working with the homecoming committee. One of her first jobs in the late 40's, was working for Boardwalk Amusements. She also worked at The Carolina Beach Drug store, Carolina Beach School, Monty's Mini Market and the first Scotchman on the island. Later in life, she went on many cruises and enjoyed traveling with her good friend Pat. She was beloved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, The Commons at Brightmore and Liberty Hospice. All are welcome to attend the celebration of life service, officiated by Pastor Shawn Blackwelder and Pastor Chris Howell, on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:00am at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 300 Harper Ave, Carolina Beach. Visitation will follow service in church fellowship hall. Donations can be made to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church/Community Life Center, PO Box 356, Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
