Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Oldham, 63, of Carolina Beach, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
He was born in Greensboro, NC, on July 15, 1955, the youngest of five children of the late James Edison Oldham and Gladys Hardin Oldham.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debra Callender Oldham; four children, Jade Lewis, Cameron Oldham, Miranda Oldham, and Patrick Oldham; a grandson, Kingsley Fussell; two sisters, Phyllis Postma and husband Bob Postma of Greensboro, NC, and Faye Baldwin and partner Jimmy Braddock of Wilmington; three nephews, Alan Shattoo, Jimmy Oldham, and Maury Kennedy; and two nieces, Debbie Shattoo, and Kim Davis.
The “backbone” of the family, Ronnie is remembered as a supportive husband, proud father and grandfather, and a servant to his family, friends, his Lord, and his church, Graceway of Wilmington. Ronnie was a hard worker and loved to work with his hands, especially in his wood and mechanic workshop. This is where he could be found on most days working on a project for the family business or planning for his race car he wanted to restore. Ronnie was friendly and loved sharing stories with people. He pursued many pastimes such as deep sea fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing baseball with his youngest son, Patrick. Ronnie and his family owned and operated the Dry Dock Family Motel in Carolina Beach where they shared their hope in life with others, conveyed by the bible verse Hebrews 6:19. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul firm and secure.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life was held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC, with Pastor Wayne Stamper officiating. His family will receive friends at the same location from 2:00 pm Sunday until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Graceway Church of Wilmington, 703 Soundside Road, Wilmington, NC, 28412.
Condolences may be shared with the family at www.andrewsmortuary.com
