Thank you to all of our readers for another wonderful year.
The Island Gazette has served the community since before 1978 and looks forward to another wonderful year in 2015. 2014 was an great year. The local economy is seeing some much need improvement. New home construction is increasing in our area and that's a good sign for our local economy.
Pleasure Island has witnessed some really nice improvements in 2014. Downtown Kure Beach looks much better now that power lines are underground. New sidewalks, landscaping and other improvements in the area combined with their new oceanfront park have renovated the beautiful little resort Town's business district.
The Town of Carolina Beach is moving forward with a large infrastructure project to replace old water, sewer and stormwater pipes throughout the downtown area and portions of residential neighborhoods.
Once completed, Cape Fear Blvd will be repaved along with wider sidewalks and improved landscaping including a multi-use bike and walking path.
The Town of Carolina Beach is replacing the old oceanfront wooden Boardwalk with a much wider walkway, new beach stage and other amenities.
Hopefully in 2014 the community will continue to see improvements in quality of life throughout our area.
This week's Year In Review isn't all-inclusive, but it's good to look back and reflect upon where one has been in order to move forward in a positive direction. Next week we'll get back to the current news.
Have a Happy New Year and be safe while traveling.
