The Town of Carolina Beach held a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday March 31st, for the newly reconstructed wooden ocean front boardwalk in the downtown Central Business District. (See page 1-A and the bottom of this page). The new wider boardwalk includes numerous improvements over the previous tired, old and weathered structure. Those include benches, swings, new covered gazebo areas, a new beachfront stage, showers and more. It's a bright brand new structure that will surely be of benefit to the entire community in terms of quality of life for year-round citizens and an appealing attraction for the tourists that help fuel our local economy. Many people worked hard to make it a reality - everyone from town employees passionate about serving their community to elected leaders and citizen volunteers. The list is too long to fit in this text, but I'm sure name recognition isn't as important as witnessing the masses of people enjoying the new boardwalk during Tuesday's festivities. We live in a proud, wonderful and extremely productive community.
