Dear Editor,
On May 20th the 6th Annual Carolina Beach Street Arts Festival was held on Cape Fear Blvd. and it drew close to 80 of the region’s best artists. crafters, performers and hundreds of visitors.
The Island Arts and Culture Alliance, the island’s nonprofit art council, hosts this annual event and it would not be possible without the help of many many people.
We would like to thank the AMAZING volunteers from Island Women for coming out early and staying all day to help the artists set-up, sell raffle tickets, keep the volunteers and artists hydrated and help with splatter painting!
Also a really big shout out to Pleasure Island Rentals, Tyler the General Manager, and Shaun have supported this festival from the beginning by providing the 20x20 and 10x10 tents, and chairs and umbrellas. They are truly an important part of our wonderful community.
And Dan Wilcox, who for 6 years has come out early and stayed all day to provide the sound system for the performances! You are always there to lend a hand for these community events.
Lastly, a big Thank You, to the Town of Carolina Beach. The council was instrumental in starting the Festival and the Alliance by providing the seed-funding that enabled us to ramp-up.
Island Arts and Culture Alliance was formed to continue building up the annual Festival and support arts and artists on our island. Through the members hard work and support from the community, the Alliance has been able to keep the Festival self-sustaining and build-up a funds to provide monetary support. This year the Alliance gave $350 to the Carolina Beach Elementary School Art Department and looks forward to providing more support to the schools and artists in our community.
Each year the Alliance holds an Art Auction with beautiful artwork that was generated from the Festival and donations from area artists. This is a fun Mardi Gras theme held in February, so mark your calendars. All proceeds go to support local arts and artists.
For more information about the Alliance email Jillian Boivin. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Find us at www.cbstreetartsfestival.org and on Facebook.
Sincerely,
Island Arts and Culture Alliance
