After a few nasty days this week and of course some MORE rain, the weekend came together nicely. For a lot of us, the theme this weekend shifted from fishing to chowder. Saturday was the annual Got-Em-On Chowder Cook-off. A time for fun, friends, and most of all chowder! I got to thinking about it earlier in the week and decided to try my luck this year in the event. It was a good thing that I did because that is exactly what happened...I got lucky. There were some great entries there this year and I feel truly honored to have been apart of this event and to be crowned this year’s chowder champion. There is a lot of energy and time put into hosting an event like this and it took a lot of people to do so. I would like to acknowledge Beth Courie and Captain Butch Martin, just to name a few, Thank you!
Great fishing is getting closer and closer every week. I’m sure if the wind lays out we will start to hear some offshore reports surface and I can’t wait. The inshore bite remains about the same with people staying focused on the redfish, stripers, and speckled trout. They are still getting in the shallows trying to warm up on the sunnier days. Get out there and catch some fish this week and remember, be safe!
