Most anglers would consider this week an adventurous one on the water. There are plenty of fish biting if you can stand the heat to be on the water all day.
The Big Rock blue marlin tournament was in full swing all week with just over a 1.5 million dollar purse. There were numerous fish brought to the scales throughout the week to claim pieces of the prize purse, but the one that everyone will remember is the 680 lb. blue that took home the top prize. Here in Carolina Beach there were two flounder tournaments held on saturday that made the local waters filled with even more boats than a crazy early summer saturday. One of there tournaments was held by our very own Got-em-On live bait club.
This was the first of five flounder tournaments that is held every year in a points driven series. Jordan Anderson took home first place honors in the tournament this weekend with a 7.9 lb. flatfish.
He reportedly caught the fish on a live bait in the Cape Fear River. Second place went to Kyle Jefferies with a 5.1 lber. and third to Luke Donat with a 4.6 lber.
These guys have started out the series with good fish but the interesting part of the whole thing is the way the points are structured. There are plenty of anglers just behind them that will make the rest of the year a nail biter. Keep a look out on future reports for updates. Everything here at the beach are right on track with all species of fish that swim our waters being brought to the dock by pursuing anglers.
All you have to do is get out there and give it a shot. Be careful out there and remember to bring the sun protection with you, you will need it. Good luck out there and tight lines.
