Like I stated earlier in the season, once tournament time gets here it shows up in full force. It seems like every weekend now there is a tournament of some sort. When there is money on the line on the weekend it drives more anglers on the water mid week in order to pre-fish and get their gear together. Speaking for myself, tournament season is my favorite time of year. Its action packed and can be a lot of fun for anyone with a competitive bone in their body. This past weekend the big tournament in the area was the SHARE King Mackerel Tournament.  This event had a two day format with a two fish aggregate being the name of the game. There was a lot of nice fish brought to the scales both days and a 68 lb. aggregate caught by “The Law” fishing team was enough to take home this years first place honors. One neat side pot in this even was a three team calcutta. Team Clearly Hooked, Miller Time, and Blew-by-u decided to get together  and represent Carolina Beach for this portion of the tournament. We actually named the three boat team “C.B.” We were able to take first place in this portion of the tournament with a three fish aggregate of just over 98 lbs. This was a great tournament put one for a great cause by a great bunch of people. Good job tournament committee and participants. The inshore bite continues to remain strong. There were good reports of flounder and drum coming back to the dock this week. I did run into a fellow angler at the wildlife ramp with a nice catch of sheephead as well. All I can suggest is to get out on the water and enjoy some of the summer before it is gone. Good luck to everyone out there and remember, safety first!
