Another week has come and gone. We are just on the brink of that amazing fall fishing that we wait all year for. Things are setting up nicely for it too! The inshore bite is still strong. The offshore bite is in it’s usual pattern, and there is more than enough bait around you can practically walk on it. This week the Got Em On live bait club held their third flounder points tournament of the season. This is always exiting and makes the water much busier not only on tournament day but the entire week. Everyone make’s an effort to get a little extra weekday fishing time in preparation for the tournament. Carolina Beach anglers as a whole have a bit of an obsession for flounder fishing. Most everyone does it and the one’s who do not have a lot of respect/admiration for the willing. The reason for this is the shear difficulty and patience that go’s into catching a “doormat” flounder.. There were over one hundred entries in the flounder show down this past weekend. There was forty three fish brought to the scales with the big one being 6.5lbs. caught be Jamie Overman. It took a citation size flatfish (5lbs.) in order to break into the top five in this week’s event.
Congrats to all the anglers that did well and good luck in the next one for those that didn’t. Next tournament could be a whole other ball game.
The fish are hungry, so my suggestion is to get on the water and take advantage. Remember, safety first!
