Wow! I am still trying to thaw out after the week we just had. I didn’t speak to a single angler that made it out this week as the day time temperatures rarely made it higher than the upper thirties. The anglers were just as hunkered and unmotivated as I’m sure the fish were. When it is this cold outside for day’s at the time, the fish will seem to be nearly gone at least on the inshore water’s. However, they are not gone, the water simply get’s cold enough that the fish will just hole up and it is very difficult to find them and then even more difficult to entice them to bite. Not to say that it would be impossible when it’s this cold out, the odd’s are just a lot lower. This is typically the time of year that a lot of angler’s focus on maintenance on their boat’s as well as gear. Most I’m sure focused on the gear part of things this past week because that’s something that can be accomplished indoors and or out of the weather. Just remember that as every week passes by we are getting closer to spring (longer day’s and warmer weather). The week ahead is already showing some sign’s of some spring type weather in the forecast. If you are itching to get out on the water, next weekend is looking like the time to do it. Good luck to everyone and stay safe!
