I bet you’re pretty tired of hearing how much I love Spots, but it’s absolutely true.  I have five of them for dinner yesterday and I’d be happy to repeat that today.   I just checked in with Kure Beach Pier and they had a solid run of Spots last night…  “bringin’ em in two at a time!”  Weeee Doggies!  Make My Day!
They also reported good catches of Pompano, Blues, and Spanish Mackerel.  As for Big fish, they’re catching a few King Mackerel and an occasional trophy sized Red Drum.
Elsewhere, Carolina Explorer Fishing Charters (910-264-1807) reports  Red drum, black drum, trout, flounder, spanish mackerel, sharks, and various others and says “Fall fishing is here! Let’s go!”
This coming weekend you can experience the Eighth Annual Pleasure Island Fall Surf Fishing Challenge.  They expect to pay out over $12,000 for the 36 hour contest and there are many chances to win.  You can check out all the details as well as register and pay your entry fee online at  www.fishermanspost.com/tournaments.  There will be categories for Flounder, Speckled Trout, Pompano, Black Drum, Red Drum, Bluefish, and Sea Mullet.  (What? No Spots?  I’m hurt!)  Seriously, it’ll be a great event for the island.   Awards will be Sunday at 2pm at the parking lot across from the CB Municipal Docks.  ‘Hope to see you there!
Wishing you the best, Capt. Mike Harrison Lucy’s Choice Bay Charters 910-228-6303
