Ashley High School Sends 2 Athletes to compete in the 2016 NCHSAA 4A State Championship Cross Country Meet

The Screaming Eagles Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country Teams  sent 1 Boy and Girl to the NCHSAA State Championship Cross Country Meet this past Saturday in Kernersville NC. RUnners coul not ask for better conditions to run the challenging 3.1 Mile Course. Christopher Gomez a Senior at Ashley High School was 1st up. Christopher who run a Personal Best time of 19:25 and finishing in 53rd Place in last year’s East Regional Championship Meet, finishing in 17th Place this season which was good enough to advance to the Meet. Christopher finished in 133rd Place with a time of 18:57. Christopher’s Average Time for all of his races this season was 18:44 and he went for a PR last season of 19:25 to 17:15 this season thanks to a lot of hard work and a lot of mileage.
Ashley had another Senior up in the Girl’s Race: Ryleigh McIntyre. Ryleigh worked very hard all Summer and came into this season where she left off last season and quickly lowered her time. At the East Regional Meet Ryleigh finished in 7th Place and become the 2nd Female Cross Country Runner to be on the 1st All Regional Team with a time of 20:00 (3rd fastest time in Ashley History). Ryleigh was able to pace herself perfectly for the 1st 2 miles, before picking up the pace the last mile catching about 12 runners in front of her and finishing in 76th Place with a time of 20:25.
