The YCC Beach Dash presented by RE/MAX Essential took place on Saturday, March 7th at beautiful Fort Fisher State Recreation Area in Kure Beach, NC. The event was a huge success with over 300 participants coming together to dash down the beach in a family-friendly obstacle course. All participants received tie-dye t-shirts and finishers medals to commemorate the occasion!  Now in its second year, the YCC Beach Dash was bigger and better than before with 9 obstacles and 3 blast stations. Teams of families, friends and co-workers participated in the 1.4 mile dash. Participants ranged in age 2 to 74, with families coming in from Raleigh, Jacksonville and even Beaufort to take part!
YCC Beach Dash sponsor, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, helped to make the day even more fun by providing volunteers at the color blast stations and by offering FREE admission to every Beach Dash participant! This event marked the ending of the 2014 YCC Run Series with an awards ceremony held at the aquarium after the Beach Dash. Runners from throughout Coastal Carolina came to receive their awards from the run series.
The YCC Beach Dash is the first race of 8 in the YCC Run Series. This yearlong series consists of nine events across Coastal Carolina. Six 5ks, one 10k, and one family obstacle course. Participation is the key! The more races you run, the more the muscles burn, the faster the legs turn, the more points you earn! Take an adventure across Coastal Carolina ranging from Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, Wilmington, and Jacksonville to compete alongside a variety of eager athletes of all ages. Points are earned by participation and by award placement. Runners must participate in 2 events to compete in the series.
