U.S. Grappling Trials added to Beach Nationals May 29-30

The U.S. Beach National Championships return to Carolina Beach, N.C. for the third straight year along with the 6th Annual North Carolina-USA Beach Wrestling State Championships.   Wrestlers of   ALL AGES   can enjoy this awesome wrestling experience as they compete for National and State titles.   Action will get underway Friday, May 29th with weigh-ins and registration at the Lazy Pirate Sports Bar & Grille , along with an informal Dual Team Beach Championship Competition!
Beach wrestling competition will be held on Saturday, May 30 at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk in the Senior Men and Senior Women’s divisions, along with Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, Schoolboy/girl, Cadet, Junior and Veterans. Beach wrestling was introduced as an international style by United World Wrestling, the international governing body for wrestling, as another avenue for athletic competition. Beach Wrestling (or sand wrestling) has been a consistent style of wrestling internationally for centuries. Combining elements of all wrestling styles, including sumo, Beach events have drawn walk-up crowds when partnered with other sporting events, helping expand the reach of wrestling through non-traditional venues.
NC-USA Wrestling will also be hosting the 2015 U.S. No-Gi Grappling World Team Trials at Eugene Ashley High School in Wilmington, on Friday, May 29. The combined events will allow athletes to compete for national honors and U.S. World Teams in two different popular non-Olympic styles of wrestling. Winners of the Senior division at the U.S. No-Gi Grappling World Team Trials will qualify to represent the United States at the 2015 Senior Grappling World Championships in Antalya, Turkey, October 9-12.
Athletes who compete in the Grappling World Team Trials Friday evening are invited to also participate in the Beach Nationals on Saturday.  Athletes who weigh-in and compete in the No-Gi Grappling Trials will be able to use that weigh-in if they wish if they also enter the Beach Nationals tournament.
The competition will be conducted under the current United World Wrestling Grappling rules. A pdf of the Grappling rules can be downloaded at the link below:
