Tony Silvagni wins the Steele Pier Longboard

Tony Silvagni competed in the Steele Pier Longboard Classic in Virginia Beach on May 23rd-25th. This event took place with an art show, 5K run, and surf competition put on my Mary and Dean Knight along with all the volunteers and friends who helped to put on this special event.  Competitors came from all over the world to compete in the surf competition. Tony Silvagni, Steven McLean and Steve Newton all team riders for Stewart Surfboards competed in this event. All three riders chose to ride their handshaped by Bill Stewart of a Tipster model by Stewart Surfboards. This event is always one of the favorite events for Tony to compete in. Tony states, “Virginia Beach always has a fun surfing community that all come together for a fun celebration and everyone is so hospitable. This event is fun for all the professional longboarders to come together to compete and socialize to catch up on life.”
Tony Silvagni placed 1st in the Pro Longboard division against a tough field of competitors of Justin Quintal, Mike Melchiorre, and Fisher Grant. All of the finalists showcased some of the best noseriding on a single fin. The Single Fin Pro division and Noseriding division was stacked with the competitors from all over the east and west coast.
Tony Silvagni placed 2nd place in the Pro Noseriding with a combined total of 14.08 seconds on the nose for two waves. The next competition Tony will be competing in is the Walk Da Plank Pro Longboard competition in Ocean City, Maryland on June 6th and 7th.
