Cape Fear Flyers compete in the 2015 Coacho Cup Challenge in Myrtle Beach: Flyers bring home 24 Medals

The Cape Fear Flyers Junior Olympic Track Team was at it again this weekend bringing in medal after medal. Finishing the Meet with 29 Medals and 21 4th-8th Place Ribbons between the Coaches and Athletes.
The Coach0 Cup Challenge was held in Myrtle Beach this past Friday and Saturday at the Doug Shaw Stadium. Friday Events Included: 100 Meter Trials, 80, 100, & 110 Hurdles for All Ages, 3000 Meter Run, Shot Put for All Ages, and High Jump for 13-18 Boys & Girls.
Below is a List of all the awards the Flyers were able to walk away with: Gold – 9: Hannah Grace won the 8 & Under Girl’s 1500 Meter Run with a 6:37; Danny Wike won the 100M Hurdles with a 18.30 and 200 M Hurdles 30.59; Russell Corbett picked up Gold in the 17-18 Men Shot Put PR 54-07.25, Discus 140ft, Hammer 1st time ever throwing 83-11; In the Open/Masters 100 Meter Hurdles Coach Beth Grace with a 19.10; In the Open/Master’s 800 Coach Shawn McKee and in the Open/Master’s 1500 Coach Greg Zinner with a 4:48.  Silver - 10 – In the 11-12 Girls 3000 Meter run Paxton Chitty had a personal best time of 12:08. Also in the 17-18 Men’s 3000 Xavier McKinley almost took 1st but came up just short with a 9:50. In the 17-18 1500 Metter Run Thomas Avery lead a pack of 3 Flyers to 2nd – 5th with his 4:40. In the 17-18 Men’s Triple Jump James Avery got a mark of 36-11.50. The 17-18 Men’s 4x400 Relay Team consisting of Cody Benton, Nash Best, Thomas Avery and Chris Avery with a 4:07. Coach Shawn McKee took 2 Silvers in the 16lbs Shot Put with a throw of 27-08.25 and In the Javelin with a throw of 129-08. Bronze 5 – In the 8 & Under Hannah Grace placed 3rd with a jump of 9-05.75ft in a field of 33 girls. In the 17-18 Men’s 1500 James Avery was 3rd with a 4:43. In the 17-18 Men’s 3000 Meter Run Cody Benton took 3rd with a 10:04. Russell Corbett picked up a Bronze in the 17-18 Men’s Javelin. In the Open/Masters 400 Hurdles Coach Beth Grace took 3rd with a 1:22.
The Flyers had 12 4th Place finishes including: Hannah Grace in Shot Put; Madison Bonser in Discus and in the Javelin; In the 9-10 Age Division Carter Grace took 4th Place in the 1500, High Jump and Shot Put; Hunter Browe in the 800 and 2000 M Steeplechase; Christopher Avery 1500 and the 2000 M Steeplechase; Thomas Avery in the 3,000 Meter Run and 800;  The Flyers had 4 5th Place finishes including: Hannah Grace in the 800, Anna Grace Padula in the 800, Mack Morgan in the High Jump and Cody Benton in the 2000 M Steeplechase.  The Flyers had 5 6th Place finishes including: Mack Morgan in the 1500, Madison Bonser in the Shot Put, Hunter Ratcliff in the  Shot Put, Christopher Avery in the 800 and Nash Best in the 2000 M Steeplechase. The Flyers had 2 7th Place finishes including: In the 8 & Under Morgan Mullins placed 7th out of 33 girls with a jump of 8-11.5. Also Placing 7th was Connor Padula in the 11-12 boys 3000 with a time of 12:31. In the 13-14 Girls 100 Meter Hurdles Anna Grace Padula took 8th Place with a 22.50.
The Flyers will be training hard over the course of the next 3 Week’s before their State Championship Meet in Greensboro’s at NC A&T June 24th-28th.  Top 8 finishers at the USATF North State Championships move on to The USATF Region 3 Championships in Virginia Beach July 8th – 17th for the chance to compete in the USATF National Championships to be held in Jacksonville Florida July 22nd-26th.
