CAROLINA BEACH - Last weekend, July 10-14 the 9U Pleasure Island took part in the USSSA Global World Series in Myrtle Beach. SC.
Teams from Georgia, Texas, Ohio, SC, and NC all converged on Grand Park for the final tournament of the 2015 season.  It was an event unlike anything these young diamond stars have seen, but they handled it in spectacular fashion.
The weekend kicked off Friday night with Opening Ceremonies in front of over a 1,000 people.  the boys represented proudly as the walked in announced in front of raucous crowd.  Pool play began on Saturday into Sunday, the boys played some of their best baseball of the season, going 4-0 and securing the #1 seed for the Championship Double Elimination Bracket.
Monday was a fight and the boys gave up their first loss of the tournament.  The loss dropped the boys into the losers bracket setting them up for an afternoon clash with one of the top teams from Georgia.  Severe weather postponed the game and pushed it back to a 845 under the lights game time.  It was a back and forth game, but the boys hung on to win 7-6 and keep their championship dreams alive.
They returned to the dirt on Tuesday morning to face off with a fast and athletic team from the Lone Star state.  The Barracudas did not have their A-games and could not manage to get the bats heated up.
The Barracudas season was over.  The boys finished the tournament in 5th place out of 15 teams.
The boys from Pleasure Island have made a name for themselves around the travel baseball circuit as a team to be reckoned with.  The final state ranking came out this week and the boys from Pleasure Island are the new #1 ranked team in North Carolina.  They also moved up to 16th Nationally.  They compiled 2 tournament titles, 3 runner up, and 3 3rd place finishes.  It was a tremendous season and the memories that were made will last a lifetime.  If you see these boys around the island be sure to let em know the Island is proud of them. The boys would like to say thank you to all of the local sponsors, their parents, friends, and the community of Pleasure Island.  Without everyone's support this season would not have been possible.
