Pleasure Island Flag Football League Coming Soon

With Fall Football season just around the corner, The Town of Kure Beach and Sports by the Sea have teamed up to offer Pleasure Island Co-ed Flag Football League.
Sports by the Sea known for state-wide youth sports and fitness supervision activities, will host the program. The program will provide boys and girls ages 5-to-14 a safe and fun alternative to tackle football. The league is for all skill levels and is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation, sportsmanship, and hustle.
The season will consist of six games located at Joe Eaks Park. Practices and games will be on the same day to accommodate families with multiple children and a busy schedule. The cost will be $60 per player and $40 for siblings and this is for the season which includes use of the flags and belts. And, can be mailed or turned into Kure Beach Town Hall. “We are so excited to have the first season of Flag Football in Kure Beach,” said Sports by the Sea, Director Brian Williams. “We believe the first season will be one of our best!” Teams and players will be divided mostly by age, but also skill level, size, and strength will factor into the placement of each athlete to promote fun and improvement. Games are played in a seven on seven or five on five format on a 60-yard long field and provide young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork and determination. All games are coached and officiated by certified Flag Football personnel. Registration is going on now and games begin September 12th.
