CAROLINA BEACH - Saturday May 19th will be a busy day in Carolina Beach. Multiple events are scheduled near the Boardwalk in the downtown Central Business District as well as at Freeman Park on the north end of the Island.

The Beach Wrestling State and National Championships will be held on the beach in front of the Boardwalk from 10am to 5pm. The event returns to Carolina Beach, N.C. for the sixth straight year along with the 9th Annual North Carolina-USA Beach Wrestling State Championships. This year the 2nd Annual USA Belt Wrestling National Championships will also be held Saturday. "Belt" Wrestling is sanctioned by the UWW as an associated style of wrestling. Find out more about these events at www.ncwrestling.org

The 6th Annual Jeep Go Topless Event will take place at Freeman Park on May 19th.

Hundreds of Jeep owners remove their (vehicle) tops and go topless for a day of fun in the sun while raising funds for local charities.

The 5th Annual Jeep Go Topless Event took place at Freeman Park in May of last year and during the August 8th 2017, meeting of the Carolina Beach Town Council, Matt Gillian, representing Jeep Go Topless Day, presented a check in the amount of $11,821.32 to the Carolina Beach Help Center.

Freeman Park, located beyond the end of Canal Drive on the Northern End of Pleasure Island, is largely outside of the Town's jurisdiction. They have authority to manage the area as a park. That was granted to them by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners some years ago.

Previous events generated funding for local organizations such as collecting canned foods for the Carolina Beach Help Center. To learn more, visit them online at http://jeepgotoplessday.com

The annual "Crawl for Paws" event will take place Saturday  to support various animal causes in the Cape Fear region. All proceeds raised stay here in the local community. Participants will crawl from pub to pub to party for a cause. To learn more, see page 2-B or visit their website at www.crawlforpaws.com
