CAROLINA BEACH - The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce announced October 2, that due to damages caused by Hurricane Florence, the 25th Annual Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival has been postponed and rescheduled for April 13th and 14th, 2019.

The festival is held at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach, NC, which suffered damage during Florence causing the facility to close.

The Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday June 19th, the line-up of performers for the festival which was originally set for October 13th and 14th.

According to Greg Reynolds - President of the Chamber - "The 25th Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival is being billed as “The Year of the Woman” featuring International Blues Recording Artist Ana Popovic, Kansas City’s Danielle Nicole and the incredible Heather Gillis Band."

Reynolds explained, "When the weather is warm, the sun is shining and the warm ocean breezes are fluttering, bring your lawn chairs and family, leave your hectic world behind and exercise your “license to chill” for two music filled days at the world famous Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival. Now entering its 25th year, let the music performed by nationally recognized Blues & Jazz performers, coastal cuisine, natural beauty and salt air transport you into another dimension…and into a world where your cares and stresses are left behind. It’s a world where the weather is warmer, the people are friendlier, the food is tastier, and the music is "blue-sier".

Reynolds explained the event will be a weekend of non-stop musical talent, headlined by Ana Popovic, who is a Hendrix-inspired phenomenal International Blues Recording Artist. The festival features 14 bands on two stages over two days. Reynolds explained, "The music can’t be beat and the locally prepared seafood is simply the best in the region."

He explained, "This two-day festival takes place along the scenic Cape Fear River at the Fort Fisher Military Recreational Area in Kure beach. Enjoy browsing at the Arts & Wine Garden, shopping for crafts, listening to music, and fine wine tasting. Children will stay entertained for hours as they enjoy performers, face painting, educational exhibits, inflatables and much more in the Kidz Zone. Held at the Ft. Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach, this event is sure to sell out quickly, so purchase your tickets ahead of time. Please do not bring coolers or pets, but bring your chairs, towels and blankets for a weekend of music and seafood at the coast."
