NEW HANOVER CTY - New Hanover County Public Library’s Pine Valley Branch will open to the public on Monday, May 6. A short dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. that morning, and then the doors will open to a day full of reading and learning activities in the new state-of-the-art library. The new library is located at 3802 South College Road in Wilmington, and the media and public are invited to attend the grand opening celebrations.
The Pine Valley Library replaces the existing Myrtle Grove Library, and will offer additional parking and expanded space for learning resources, library programs and services, and community meetings. The Myrtle Grove Library closed on Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. so that staff can prepare to transition resources and books to the Pine Valley Branch. During this transition, from April 27 through May 5, residents are encouraged to visit one of the county’s other three library branches: Pleasure Island, Northeast Regional, and Main.
“We are really looking forward to opening the Pine Valley Branch, which is going to be a community hub for children, youth and adults,” said New Hanover County Public Library Director Harry Tuchmayer. “During our week of transition, I encourage customers to visit one of our other libraries for books, resources, computer access, children’s activities, and much more.”
