“I have made a commitment, to the LORD, to give 100% of the sales of my first book (The Stained Glass Window) to "Heart of Hope" in order that children may have the food and clothing they need in order to thrive.  Thank you for being a part of this special outreach.” ~Molly Painter

Recently I met a strong and beautiful woman named Molly Painter.  She is the mother of Dara, another amazing woman, who has lived and worked on Pleasure Island since 1999.  What intrigued me about both of these ladies was their positive attitudes having overcome extreme hardships and their dedication to help needy children and neighbors on our island.  They have worked very hard creating an event and I am supporting them by asking you to join in on Saturday, September 12 at 8:00am.  What is better than getting in some early morning exercise while raising money that stays right here on our island?
According to the website, “The 3rd Annual "Heart of Hope" Run/Walk/Roll or Relay for Hunger is committed to feeding children in Carolina Beach, NC. This registered timed event is for all types of runners and walkers-beginners to novices.  The flat course will sure to be fast and fun by ending on the BEACH!  By participating in this 5K event, you are helping feed children who might otherwise go without. Proceeds will go directly to the following organizations: 1) The Help Center, 2) Carolina Beach Elementary School and 3) ‘Heart of Hope.’
Cost is $25 to participate and early registration online is encouraged.  You can also register on race day at 6:30am at the main stage gazebo at Carolina Beach. The race begins on Cape Fear Blvd and North 3rd street next to the  CB library and ends at Hamlet.  After the race, activities will be provided for family fun at the finish line! Walk, Run, Relay, or Roll!! The ‘Heart of Hope’ Run/Walk for Hunger 5K. You will weave your way through scenic communities on this beautiful island.
The ‘Heart of Hope’ Run will be having after the run festivities! Mission Balloon will be making twist balloons for children, local baked goods will be for sale by MOMMA Rock that are filled with lots of love. The Wilmington Bird Club will be there with their exotic birds to view, face painting for children will be available, ‘Hope’ for the Heart will be present for pictures with lots of kisses. The Carolina Beach Fire Department is bringing ‘Big Red’ for the children to see. Raffles—did I mention those?  Go to the FaceBook page ‘Heart of Hope Run’ and see a list of sponsors that have donated gifts and prizes.  Craig Thomas of radio station Life 90.5 FM will be broadcasting live.
There will also be a donation box for food/money for the children of Carolina Beach Elementary School and the Help Center.
