“GEORGE WASHINGTON for President.”

Last week I  flew to Washington, DC and met up with three of my college roommates.  One lives in Atlanta.  One lives near Pittsburgh and one in Virginia, right outside the city.
We were celebrating the birth of a first granddaughter and taking time to reconnect while also discovering some amazing sights of our nation’s capital.
Cherry blossoms were the theme, however, we missed then by about two weeks.  Next time.
We explored Mount Vernon and learned a lot about our first president.  His false teeth were not really made out of wood, you know. They were made out of ivory.
He was a man of integrity. A valiant leader.  He did have servants but they were not slaves.  They were free men of color.  He saw a vision for our country and against all odds, directed his troops to overtake the enemy, birthing our nation as he saw a better life for all who would live here.  He loved his wife and family and created an environment that was sustainable for future generations.
It is no surprise that his legacy showed him as a little boy confessing to chopping down the cherry tree because he would never tell a lie.
He created this nation for us and over two hundred years later, here we were. It was girl time for Janie, Sparkle, Madelyn and myself.
We looked through old photo albums and laughed till we cried as memories of dorm life and innocence and ridiculous circumstances came to mind.  We also spoke of divorce and death and hard times we all have endured in one way or another.  Such is life.  Our lives may have taken different paths but our human experiences and feelings are similar.
You cannot visit Washington, DC, the capital of our country during this year of a coming election and not be thinking about the future of our nation.
You cannot visit with old friends without remembering a time of youth when the whole world was wide open to goals and dreams.
Feng shui teaches us that we become like the people with which we surround ourselves. Who are your best five friends?  Who do you spend your time with most often? Are you a person who helps raise the vibration of others around you or do you fall to a lower level?
I hope that the future president of our country will be a person of high integrity.  A person who does not lie.  A person who is of a nature of respect and compassion for others.  A person who can envision the future with a progressive nature and raise the vibration of our nation. In the Lincoln memorial there was a photo of a man holding a sign during the 1960’s civil rights movement. His sign claimed that civil rights was ‘communist’ as he was against integration.  He was probably also against women’s rights and all I can say is that ‘we have come a long way, baby.’
We missed the cherry blossoms this year but there is always tomorrow. Will it be possible this year to choose a new president who can honestly say, “It was me, father.  I cannot tell a lie.”
