On Friday, June 3 at 5:30pm the Island Montessori Children's School celebrates its inaugural Little Hands Art Show + Picnic Fundraiser at 222 Winner Ave. Carolina Beach, NC.
Come see the amazing art work these amazing little hands have made! Beverages for purchase, 50/50 Raffle and face painting. All art work will be available to Purchase. 100% of the proceeds will benefit our Preschool Tuition Assistance Fund, which launches in the 2016-2017 school year.
Christina Dees, secretary and founding member of the Island Montessori Board, has welcomed us to, “Bring your favorite food along with your choice of a drink and settle in on a picnic blanket or chair. Mingle and meet other parents while children play and enjoy the beautiful artwork on display. Children's artwork is provided by our very own talented Children's House students and amazing teachers, Ms. Mary Carmen and Ms. Beca Shaw.”
The core values of the Montessori founding principles are central to the school’s mission and purpose.
The environment in nurturing these children is based on respect, integrity, individuality, responsibility, compassion, optimism, confidence, courage, service and kindness. A fun bit of trivia….some famous people educated at Montessori schools are Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis – former first lady (John F. Kennedy), Sean 'P.Diddy' Combs – singer, Prince William and Prince Harry, and Larry Page and Sergey Brin – founders of Google.
In 2012 we welcomed a Montessori preschool (including kindergarten) onto this island (location of the event.) The next year the charter school was opened and this year it will include grades K-7.
Jeremy Linquist, founding board member, described how you can help.  1) This event is open to the public; spread the word, invite your friends.  2) By purchasing beverages and art work, you can help us reach our fundraising goal of $1,000.
The little hands art show helps to support the Island Montessori Tuition Assistance Program.  This program was created to provide assistance for tuition to the Island Montessori Children’s School (preschool).
The Island Montessori School (IMS) Tuition Assistance Program will open for the 2016-2017 school year.  An education from Island Montessori School is an investment in your child’s future. We realize that education costs are a significant financial commitment and may be a challenge for some families.
The IMS Tuition Assistance Program was created to provide tuition assistance to current and prospective preschool families in our community.
The purpose of the Tuition Assistance program is to: Maintain current families in our school community who have demonstrated a commitment to the Montessori Approach.  Encourage new families to attend Island Montessori School, bringing gender and age balance to the growing community.  Promote demographic, socio-economic, and geographic diversity within the Montessori community.
The board also advised me of Sponsorship Opportunities. For more information contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
We would love to get the community involved in making montessori education available to everybody.  As I pick up my own grandchildren afterschool on MoMo day, I am delighted to hear all about their day at school.  Even more rewarding is watching the Montessori principles come to life as they are thankful for their food, clear their dishes from the table when done and entertain themselves with arts and crafts.  xo mo
