We are working on a project that I will call ‘A Walk around the Bagua.’  The Bagua is the implied meaning of space, a map that can be placed over the space (a plot of land, a building, a room or even a desk) and read, indicating the personal expressions of energy in the space,’ personal’ being the operative word since the space reflects the energy of the person in the place.
This map has a tic-tac-toe-like grid placed upon it, dividing it into 9 equal sections. According to ancient lore this mathematical pattern was seen upon a turtle’s carapace near the Lo Shu (river Lo) and answers the question, “What is the secret of a well-rounded life lived in harmony?”
We will explore all nine areas of said well-rounded life, beginning with the first one known as SELF or CAREER, that is,who you are today.
Do you know who you are and why you are here?  Has your life been haphazard or do you feel your experiences have created who you are, leading you in a specific direction?  Is your life filled with goals, dreams or intentions or do you sway wherever the wind blows you? How is that working for you?
Studying feng shui can be confusing because there are many schools promoting different perspectives. I practice the pyramid school of feng shui, a contemporary school of thought using the underpinnings of ancient wisdom while also integrating social sciences like psychology, sociology and cultural anthropology.
As we take a look at each section in the bagua, we will discover what makes us tick and where our lives may be challenged, stuck, or moving with healthy momentum.  Also, our society has taught us to examine things in a linear fashion.  Our lives are not linear.  They are cyclical.  Day turns into night.  Winter gives way to spring.  Joy can be expected tomorrow even though grief or sadness exists today.  It’s ok.  It’s all ok.  It shows you where you are in the cycle.
You have heard of the flow of energy.  Without knowing it you are experiencing it daily. It is important to get a baseline of where and who you are today if you want to assess strengths and weakness.  We use an elemental test based on Chinese 5 Element Theory.  This is the same 5 Elemental Theory used in healing modalities such as acupuncture. If you would like to take this assessment, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will send you the test and return your results.  Once you know where you are today (SELF) you can continue your journey through life in an intentional direction but before you begin one step, come up with three things in your life you want to change. Feng shui promotes changes. Understanding who you are today gives direction to those changes in your life.
I once was asked to do a feng shui consultation for a friend who wanted to remodel an older home they purchased.  My first question was, “What do you want to change in your life?”  Her response was, “Nothing.  I don’t want to change anything in my life.  We are great.  Our kids are great.  Our marriage is great.  Our lives are great.  We just want to remodel this home.”  My reply to her was she did not need a feng shui consultation.  In fact, feng shui promotes changes and why would I want to interfere with said perfection.  “You need an architect, a designer and a contractor.” ( I could still help her out a a designer.)
If you are game, think about who you are today, those three things yu want to change in your life and get ready for an enlightening journey.  xo mo
