King Lear Tickets on Sale Now for March 8th-23rd Shows

Tickets are now available to purchase for Wilmington NC’s Dram Tree Shakespeare’s 2018 spring production of Shakespeare’s titanic King Lear.  DTS returns to the dashing McEachern’s Warehouse in downtown Wilmington for performances March 8-25, 2018.
The aging King Lear decides to divide his kingdom among his daughters, two of whom reward his generosity by turning him out and seeking his death.  Lear wanders homeless and destitute as chaos and villainy surround him.  Finally, aided by his one loving daughter, he begins to understand what it is to be human.
Casting is complete and rehearsals are underway.  The artistic and technical teams are in the process of transforming McEachern’s Warehouse into a visceral landscape of grand pagan decay.  Audiences will again be immersed in a theatrically transformative world of literature, emotion, and action.
Jerome Davis has been cast as King Lear.  Davis is founding artistic director of Raleigh, NC’s Burning Coal Theatre Company.  He has worked at Trinity Repertory Company (Providence), People’s Light & Theatre Company (PA), New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Phoenix Theatre (SUNY/Purhchase), Wellfleet Harbor Actors’ Theatre (Cape Cod), Columbia University, Soho Rep, New Dramatists, Avalon Rep and MINT Theatre (NYC). Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he studied in New York with Uta Hagen, Nikos Psacharapolous, and Julie Bovasso.
Davis joins a cast of 15 local Wilmington actors under the direction of Jamie Rocha Allan.  Rocha Allan has directed over 30 productions in England and the United States.
McEachern’s Warehouse is located at 121 South Front Street in downtown Wilmington, NC.  King Lear will run from Thursday, March 8, 2018 to Sunday March 25, 2018 with performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3:00 p.m., with a special added 7:30 p.m. evening performance Sunday, March 18, 2018.
