No editorial this week on politics, taxes, etc. It's Thanksgiving and everyone should focus on spending time with family and friends. Enjoy the food, quality time at home with family and  catching a football game on TV while fighting off the post turkey dinner urge to fall asleep in the recliner. :-)
I'm working on a number of reports for next week's edition.
The Kure Beach Town Council heard a presentation from their Parking Focus Group earlier this month regarding a study of parking in Kure Beach. Several options were included in the presentation including a paid parking program and additional parking spaces along Fort Fisher Blvd.
The Council said they want more information on the topic before proceeding.
In Carolina Beach, the Council discussed options during their November 22nd, meeting to deal with a large ocean front house on South Lake Park Blvd that has generated a lot of problems for neighbors in the area. The house is often rented to large parties for weddings. It's become known as "The Wedding House" and the Council was clearly frustrated with having to continually deal with complaints. The owners came before the Council earlier this year and assured everyone they would address the problems of loud noise, illegal parking and other nuisances.
Several Council members voiced support for massive fines for violations upwards of $5,000 after several violations. The current $50 fine just doesn't offer incentive to comply with Town regulations.
We shall get to those stories and more next week. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving!
